Life was going well for Nina. As a young child, she grew up with her single mother and a devoted nanny who gave her an abundance of love. When Nina’s mother is killed in a workplace shooting life for her would never be the same.

After this massive loss Nina struggles to navigate her new life with her father Santino who has been a sparse presence in Nina’s world since she was four. Santino’s wife Nicole makes Nina feel like she is unwelcome within the illusion of her flawless family. Nicole’s perfect etiquette and alluring personality conceals the foolishness she puts her stepdaughter through.  Nina learns that although she is living with her father, he is still not present in her life.
